The water in the spring is slightly salty due to the presence of sodium, potassium, and magnesium salts. Salt Springs was named so. People believed that the spring had healing properties and came to it in the early 1900s. Salt Springs produces 52 million gallons per day at a temperature constant of 74 degrees Fahrenheit. Salt Springs water has a mild saltiness because of the presence sodium, magnesium and potassium salts. Salt Springs was named for this reason. Although there are many boils, Native Americans believed each one had unique healing properties.
