Description

The Bridal Veil Falls viewpoint is located 11 kilometers south of the Icefields Center, along the Icefields Parkway. Additionally, another ¼ km to the south, the viewpoint of the North Saskatchewan Valley yields views of the falls as well. The trail to Panther Falls allows slightly closer views, but often trees are in the way.Bridal Veil Falls is a lofty string-like set of plunges and slides which drops 281 feet directly across the valley from Panther Falls along the Icefields Parkway. The falls start with a prominent plunge which, upon impact, transitions immediately to a series of stairstepping slides and then into a second plunge at the bottom of the formation. Because there is no defined pause between any section of the falls, we have classified this as one congruent drop rather than multiple drops, though the form is technically a tiered set of plunges.
Above the primary part of the falls the creek cascades down a steep length of the mountainside for a good 800-1000 vertical feet, though little - if any - of the individual parts of the cascades appear to be vertical and are questionably defined as legitimate waterfall(s) in the first place. We had in the past considered this section of cascades to be part of Bridal Veil Falls, but upon further review, we feel it is both set too far upstream from the main part of the falls and does not maintain a steep enough pitch to be considered part of the falls.
