Vidfoss
Vidfoss can be found just over 8km south of Odda along Route 13 and are impossible to miss. There are no roadside turnouts adjacent to the falls, so the best option to park is to find the abandoned road that branches northeast from Route 13 immediately south of the bridge over the Stølselva. Good views of the falls can be attained here, but walking along Route 13 will provide different views as well.Vidfoss is one of five major, well known waterfalls found in Oddadalen along Route 13. Fed by about a dozen lakes and some small glacial remnants of the retreating Folgefonna Icefield, Vidfoss crashes down the side of Oddadalen in two large, bombastic steps totaling 320 meters (1,050 feet) in height. The upper tier consists of a narrow chute-like cascade which tumbles 138 meters (450 feet) in at least four steps and is difficult to see at all from the floor of the valley. After a short pause, the stream pitches into a free-fall and slams onto diagonally stratified bedrock, dropping another 175 meters (575 feet) and spreading out into dozens of channels which cascade over a series of angled joints before tumbling through a small alluvial fan and entering the Storelva on the valley floor. Below the falls lies farmland, in which sheep can often be seen grazing in the grass, seemingly unaware of the powerful waterfall just behind them.
