Alpental Falls
Exit Interstate 90 at the Alpental / West Summit Exit, turning north onto Alpental Road. The falls can be seen at the end of the road, at the maintenance yard next to the Snow Lake trailhead parking area, and closer approaches are achieved by hiking in about 1/5th of a mile along the trail.Alpental Falls is a seasonal waterfall which flows off the flank of Snoqualmie Mountain, north of Snoqualmie Pass. The falls skip about 250 feet down to the headwaters of the South Fork Snoqualmie River, next to the parking area for the Snow Lake trailhead and the Alpental Ski Area. Several other seasonal waterfalls can be seen adjacent to Alpental Falls, all of which have smaller drainage areas and usually run dry earlier in the year. Due to the drainage size, the falls usually run dry by the end of July. There doesn't appear to be any historic precedent for naming this waterfall, but the falls have been known as such for many years by members of the Ice Climbing community.
