Lower Galena Creek Falls

Description

Located in the Tower Rock area of the Cispus River drainage, southeast of Randle. Drive south from Randle along FR 23 / SR 131. After about 10 miles, turn right on FR 28, also signed for the Cispus Learning Center. After crossing Yellowjacket Creek, about 1 mile further, keep straight along FR 28, which becomes gravel, as the pavement bends right. Follow the now gravel Road 28 for just under 3.5 miles to the signed crossing of Galena Creek. The falls are immediately below the road. While scouting Galena Creek Falls for the first time, I took a casual glance at the creek below the road before getting back in the car and saw that the creek dropped straight down for around 100 feet. I was quite surprised that I didn't see this coming up the road. These falls are pretty impressive, however, getting a good picture requires you to ignore all reason, and forget you were afraid of falling and dying a very painful and gruesome death. This waterfall is ONLY accessible by looking over the top of the falls. Photographing the falls should not be attempted without climbing gear and the knowhow to use it. I would give the falls a higher rating if there were some way to reach the base without chancing death (and the fact that it pours straight out of a culvert doesn't help either).
