Lower Middle Fork Nooksack Falls

Lower Middle Fork Nooksack Falls is a secondary waterfall found about 500 feet downstream from Middle Fork Nooksack Falls on Mount Baker. The falls drop a total of 43 feet in two steps of 14 and 29 feet where the river is squeezed between a cliff and a couple of huge boulders which have wedged themselves in the riverbed. There is some question whether the falls would even exist if the boulders weren't there, but the cliffs on either side of the falls are undeniably bedrock, so it seems likely that something would exist if not for the boulders.
The Middle Fork Nooksack River is sourced in the Deming Glacier on Mount Baker, one of the largest on the mountain. This high up along the length of the river the stream will rely more on the glacial melt for sustenance than not, so the falls will appear their fullest during the warmest months of the year between June and October. There should however be ample volume in the river at any time of year that the area is not snow-bound however.
