Lower Sulphur Creek Falls
Sulphur Creek drains small parts of the Squak and Easton Glaciers on Mount Baker, and has been a bit of a headache stream during the major floods of the last decade or so. Bridges over both the Baker Lake Road and the Baker Dam road have been damaged by the stream. Just downstream of the Baker Dam road the creek plunges over this small but very scenic little 24 foot waterfall. In illustration to the power the creek has displayed in the past, just below the falls is a massive rocky bar deposited by the flood waters. The partially incised basaltic cliff over which the falls plunge rings the amphitheater for several hundred feet, giving the spot a very isolated feel despite being just yards from the road. During the wet season one may see several seeps flowing from cracks in the cliff adjacent to the falls.
