Shotgun Falls
Shotgun Falls is a very distinct Oregon waterfall, dropping over the distinct basalt formations which produce so many of the lower elevation waterfalls in the foothills of the Willamette Valley. The falls, plunging 96 feet along small Shotgun Creek, is the only cataract currently cataloged in the Molalla River basin. However, given the geology seen along nearby Butte, Abiqua and Silver Creeks, there are almost certainly more waterfalls in the area waiting to be found. Because Shotgun Creek drains from a fairly small area, the impressiveness of the falls will decrease as the year progresses, very possibly reducing to just a trickle during the late summer months. About 100 feet downstream from the falls is a 15 foot tall lower falls.
