Upper Cedar Falls
Upper Cedar Falls, or just Cedar Falls as it is more commonly known, is the only waterfall accessible to the public within the closed Cedar River Watershed. The falls can only be accessed on guided tours run out of the Cedar River Watershed Education Center at Rattlesnake Lake which are offered sporadically over the summer months (1-hour waterfall only tours are usually run about 8-10 times a year, while 3-hour long tours of the watershed are run from mid July through the end of August). Because much of the Cedar River is drawn off for both hydroelectric generation and for use as a primary source of Seattle's water supply, the falls are greatly diminished from mid-summer onward.
