Name of Waterfall

White Falls

Description

White Falls is the final and by far the largest waterfall along Hilt Creek. The falls drop some 240 feet in five distinct steps, with the largest drop standing about 90 feet tall by itself. The upper tier can be partially viewed from Highway 530 in the winter when the trees are bare, but as of August of 2011, the trail leading to the falls has been posted No Trespassing, so for all intents and purposes there is no public access (chances are it technically never was publicly accessible). We are unsure whether the name of this waterfall is even colloquially accepted. There is a private road nearby marked as White Falls Lane, so it was assumed that the name of the road was derived from the name of the waterfall. However it may simply have been that the name was picked for the road in a totally unrelated manner, in which case there does not seem to be any other kind of documentation regarding this waterfall. Until something suggests otherwise, we will continue to refer to it as White Falls.
