Name of Waterfall
Yellow Falls
Yellow Falls
Yellow Falls is a minor set of rapids along the Potomac River where the river splits around Turkey Island. The name seems to apply specifically to the southern most channel of the river (out of three) and it looks like the other two channels don't even feature ripples, all which would suggest the falls occur on only a portion of the river. Given that the drop experienced here is perhaps 3 feet at best, and at worst when the river is fullest won't even register as rapids, this feature should not be considered a legitimate waterfall and has been flagged as disqualified accordingly.Calico Rapids (or Falls, depending on who you ask) seems to be a name associated with one specific branch of the Potomac River at Yellow Falls.
