About This Waterfall

During the spring and early summer months (in heavy snow years at least) Avalanche Creek can be seen dropping over a modest waterfall as it falls down the Merced Gorge. The falls are visible about 1.6 miles inside Yosemite National Park along Highway 140, but before the Arch Rock Entrance station. The falls are surrounded with thickets of trees and brush and are not easily seen from across the river. The low volume of Avalanche Creek also ensures the falls will be dry by July in most years.
