Name of Waterfall

Bartlett Falls

Description

Take Route 116 to Bristol and continue about a mile and a half north of town on combined Route 116 / 17, then turn right onto Lincoln Gap Road immediately after crossing the New Haven River. The falls will be found about one-quarter of a mile up on the right.Bartlett Falls is the significant waterfall found where the New Haven River descends through its gorge into Bristol. It is also perhaps the most populous swimming hole in the state of Vermont. The river here sheets over a bedrock shelf and then plunges 14 feet into a deep pool with copious ledges for diving from. The cliff over which the falls drop is also significantly undercut, allowing passage behind the falling water (you will have to swim to this vantage however). Because of the popularity of the swimming hole below the falls, visitors will seldom find themselves alone at this location, so remember to be courteous to your fellow visitors, and pack out any trash you may produce when making a trip to the falls.
