Bertha May Falls

Sawtooth Ridge near the southern side of Mount Rainier National Park harbors several small lakes. I'd known of Teeley Falls on the outlet of Granite Lake for quite a while, and Cora Falls below Cora Lake on Big Creek for almost as long, but I'd never known for sure what the outlet of Bertha May Lake sported until now. Paralleling Teeley Falls, the outlet of Bertha May drops over a 200-foot headwall above Pothole Lake. This stream, however, descends in a less than linear fashion - dropping as several tiers adding up to about 100 feet of legitimate waterfall, followed by another 100 feet of steep cascades. Unfortunately, because of the position where the Teeley Creek trail crosses the stream, the falls are very difficult to see up close. Quite audible across Pothole Lake, and in some cases partially visible, only the bottom 20 feet or so can be appreciated from the trail. It may be possible to approach the falls from the side from further up the trail, but I can't say for sure until I return for further scouting.
