Bluff Falls

Description

Bluff Falls can be found to the west of Highway 89 about three-quarters of a mile south of the southern border of Lassen Volcanic National Park. A small turnout on the east side of the road provides room to stop and admire the falls.Bluff Falls is a dribbly 47-foot tall horsetail style waterfall which greets keen-of-eye who are paying especially close attention to the hillside to the west of Highway 89 just south of the southern entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The falls stream down a dark cliff adjacent to a former quarry site, flanked by thickets of alder and scrub brush which encroaches the stream to the point of obscurity. During the peak of the snow melt season the falls may be obvious to passers by, but by the end of July the falls become lost against the cliff, hardly noticeable without knowing exactly where to look.
