About This Waterfall

Brudesløret is visible from Route 37 about 4.7 km west of Rjukan and about 1.3 kilometers west of the Route 37 / Route 651 junction. There is a large work yard directly across the valley from the falls, with ample room to park for picture taking. Please be mindful of people who may be working in the area and do not linger if asked to leave.Brudesløret is a tall but lower volume waterfall which can be seen prominently tumbling down the side of the valley of the river Måna near the town of Rjukan. The falls drop a total of about 375 meters over a linear distance of about 400 meters, with the slope of the fall becoming steepest in the middle half of the drop. The stream is sourced in a series of small lakes on the plateau above and may be regulated in a hydroelectric system to the point where the falls may run dry during the later summer months. We had previously listed this waterfall as Kvitåefossen, however we've been told that while there is no officially recognized name for this waterfall it is more appropriately known as Brudesløret.
