About This Waterfall
Caldron Falls are most easily seen from the Peyto Lake viewpoint at the Bow Summit along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. The trail from the parking lot is a bit steep in places but is short and paved. Closer approaches to the falls are possible, but cross country travel and stream fords are required.Visitors to the famous Peyto Lake viewpoint along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park will be treated to a distant view of this large waterfall streaming from Caldron Lake, about halfway between the Peyto Glacier and Peyto Lake. The falls drop about 400 feet in two to three segments, depending on how much water is coming off the glaciers above, then cascade down the talus to the flood plain below. From a distance, this is a moderately impressive waterfall, and we suspect that up close it would rate favorably with some of the best falls along the Icefields Parkway.
