About This Waterfall
Camp Robber Cascades are accessed from the Lake Dorothy Trail at the end of the Miller River Road near Skykomish. Turn off Highway 2 at the Old Cascade Highway at Money Creek, either 2 3/4 miles west of Skykomish or 3/4 of a mile east of Grotto. Proceed a mile and turn right (south) on Miller River Road. The Lake Dorothy Trailhead is at its end about 9 miles further. Hike in along the trail for about 3/4 of a mile to the bridge across Camp Robber Creek which bisects the two sections of the falls - the upper being visible from the bridge, and the lower visible from just off the trail about 200 feet before the bridge. The Camp Robber Cascades are a series of slides and cascades found along its namesake creek where the Lake Dorothy Trail makes its crossing. Camp Robber Creek descends a total of about 76 feet in two distinct sections - a long, smooth waterslide above the bridge which drops 52 feet in a run of about 350 feet, and a steeper 24-foot tall sliding horsetail type fall immediately downstream of the bridge. Adjacent to the bridge a wide bare slab of bedrock can be seen, with a portion of the East Fork Miller River sliding down it during the spring and early summer months. This is likely the former channel of the full body of the river, but flooding forced to to relocate further to the west many years ago, and now it only flows when the river is full with snow melt.
