About This Waterfall
Capote Falls is located on private property, and landowner permission is apparently very rarely given to visitors. It's a beautiful waterfall, but you're not likely to see it without an aircraft. The falls drop over two ledges of the Bracks Rhyolite formation which have been coated with a distinct layer of travertine from the mineral-rich waters of the creek. The travertine formation produced by the stream appears as a hanging cloak, hence the name - Capote is the spanish word for cloak.
