About This Waterfall
As Tenaya Creek runs out of Cathedral Lakes it forms a long waterslide-style cascading waterfall with a total drop of around 450 feet. The falls can be partially seen from Highway 120 just east of Tenaya Lake, but are best seen after a short off-trail scramble heading east from Pyweak Dome. Because the basin which feeds the falls is small, the volume of water in the stream will quickly diminish once the winter snowpack has melted, so the falls are likely to be at their best immediately after the Tioga Pass Road is opened for the season.
