About This Waterfall
Draining from the same limestone plateau which feeds France's spectacular Gavarnie Falls, Cascada del Cinca in similar fashion crafts Spain's tallest waterfall. While Gavarnie drains from primarily subterranean sources, Cinca is fed by surface runoff - primarily from a modest lake and a handful of small glaciers occupying the north face of Monte Perdido, the third tallest peak in the Pyranees. The falls consist of three large plunge type drops separated by literally dozens of smaller plunges and cascades in a non-stop series of falls which drop about 500 meters in all. The largest individual drop of the falls is located towards the bottom of the formation and is a popular attraction in the valley (the other tiers are just as easily visible, but are more distant and not as easily appreciated).
