About This Waterfall

From Highway 19 in Campbell River, follow Highway 28 west for 5km to the signed turn off to Elk Falls Park (do not turn at the campground). Follow this road across a bridge spanning three massive penstocks, and go right at the park entrance sign. Park and follow the trail leading upstream for a short distance, then branch right at the sign for the Elk Falls viewpoint. When you reach the first junction, turn left and follow the main trail (there are a few minor trails, just ignore them), for about 1/3 km, to beaten paths out onto the rocks above the falls.Deer Falls is one of three waterfalls found within Elk Falls Provincial Park outside of Campbell River on Vancouver Island. The falls are perhaps one of the least significant named waterfalls in British Columbia, dropping no more than 5 feet (though maybe closer to 3 feet) over a small basalt ledge. The Campbell River drops over several small ledges of similar size between the more notable drops of Moose and Elk Falls, so locating the proper feature bearing the name of Deer Falls can be a bit of a task.
