About This Waterfall
Denny Camp Falls is located just west of Snoqualmie Pass, between the lanes of Interstate 90 near the Denny Creek viaduct. Depending on which direction you are traveling from, directions to the trailhead will vary. For travelers heading east from North Bend, depart I-90 at Exit 47 (Denny Creek and Asahel Curtis), then turn left from the off-ramp and cross the freeway, and bear right at the T-intersection. Drive just a quarter mile, crossing under I-90, and then turn left onto Denny Creek Road #58 where signs point to Denny Creek and Franklin Falls. After 2.3 miles pass Denny Creek Campground, continuing another half mile to the first sharp hairpin turn in the road and park in the large pullout. Travelers heading west from Cle Elum will need to exit I-90 at the West Summit exit (Hyak), then follow the frontage road past the ski area towards Alpental, then bear left onto Road #58 after crossing under I-90, and continue about 2 miles to the aforementioned pullout. The Frankin Falls trail skirts the road here, as indicated by the obvious wooden fence. Denny Camp Falls can be found directly on the other side of this fence, but clear views of the falls require making a somewhat precarious scramble down a steep slope to a small ledge directly in front of the falls - this can be slick when wet so take extra caution if you aren't 100% sure of your footing.Denny Camp Falls is likely the largest of a number of small waterfalls found both above and below Franklin Falls along the South Fork Snoqualmie River. Conveniently this waterfall happens to be situated almost immediately to a road and features quite easy access (though clear views require a bit of less-than-easy scrambling). The river here constricts between narrow gorge walls and plunges 27 feet into a small bowl flanked by dark mossy cliffs. Because of the constricted gorge walls, the Franklin Falls trail which passes the falls has to divert almost quite literally onto Denny Creek Road #58, and this fortunately facilitates quick in-and-out access for those looking to visit several waterfalls in the area in one day.
