About This Waterfall
Diadem Glacier Falls are best seen from an unmarked pullout along the Icefields Parkway about 3 kilometers north of the Beauty Creek Hostel and about a half kilometer north of the crossing of Grizzly Creek. Approaching the falls more closely certainly looks possible if one can find a safe crossing of the Sunwapta River.A significant volume of meltwater can be seen pouring from beneath the Diadem Glacier and plunging down a large waterfall at the head of the Diadem Creek valley. The falls appear to consist of at least three major steps, likely more, and drop at least 500 vertical feet. Topographic maps suggest the total drop may be closer to 1000 feet total, but because the falls are only visible from a distance verifying this posit will be difficult to do without higher quality topographic data and / or further survey work in field.
