Name of Waterfall

Dougan Falls

Description

Driving east from Washougal towards Stevenson along Highway 14, turn north on Salmon Falls Road (10 miles west of Bridge of the Gods or 3 miles east of Cape Horn) and follow it for 3 miles to Washougal River Road. Turn right and follow Washougal River Road for 5 miles to Dougan Falls at the end of the pavement.Dougan Falls is the final major waterfall along the Washougal River (not counting 8-foot tall Salmon Falls). The falls occur where the river widens to over 100 feet and crashes 19 feet sideways into a narrow trough. The falls are easily seen from multiple roadside vistas. Below the falls is a deep blue pool, ideal for swimming on a hot summer day. Picnic tables and pit toilets are provided in the day use area on the far side of the bridge. Good place to bring the kids for a day outing. If you are lucky, and come at the right time of the year, you may see kayakers running the falls.
