About This Waterfall
There is a chance that Douglas Falls isn't nearly as tall as topographic maps let on. The gully through which Staircase Creek descends on its way down the valley from Lake Douglas is choked with huge boulders, and doesn't appear to be carved into a bedrock canyon (at least on the visible surface). If this is the case, the legitimate waterfall portion of this stretch of stream is likely considerably smaller than previously suspected, but because access to the falls is apparently quite difficult, we don't know for sure.
