About This Waterfall
This is one of two large waterfalls which pours from the Fryingpan Glacier on Mount Rainier. While the west falls occurs along a stream which flows for about a mile in a more northerly direction and intersects the Emmons Glacier, where it disappears beneath the ice to merge with the White River, the east falls forms the beginning of Fryingpan Creek itself. The falls can be seen distantly from trails around Sunrise, but a close approach will require hiking 1.2 miles cross-country (no trail) from the Fryingpan Creek Trail.
