Ecstall Falls

We've seen multiple names associated with this waterfall. Early photographs dating back to xxx label the cataract as Ecstall Falls or Exstall Falls, and Hochstall Falls may be a spelling which was intended to be more phonetically similar to the Native American word which it was derived from, but how close any of these variants may be is unknown. One photograph which the Royal British Columbia Museum has cataloged online as originating in the 1890s labels the falls as Nit-za-mutza Falls, but this is the only such reference we've seen to this name. More recently the falls have been known simply as Big Falls and the stream was likely named in this regard, the proper name not being known.
