About This Waterfall
Falls Creek Falls can be seen directly below the South Shore Road along Lake Quinault, and adjacent to the Lake Quinault Lodge, located 2.3 miles east of Highway 101 in the Olympic National Forest. A trail leads down the west side of the creek from a parking area at the bridge, and access is also had from within the Falls Creek campground on the east side of the creek.Though its the smallest of the multitude of waterfalls along the South Shore Road at Lake Quinault, Falls Creek Falls is the easiest to access and actually serves as a rather pretty scene for photography. The falls plunge 12 feet, often in two channels, into a deep pool frequented by the local Steelhead runs (fishing is not allowed). A small and rather ineffective fish ladder was recently removed from the right side of the falls, returning the flow of the creek to a slightly more natural state. The falls are presumably the reason the creek was named, but it is not known when.
