About This Waterfall

Falls Creek Falls is a very low volume, but moderately tall waterfall found in the lower Cispus River drainage near Tower Rock. The falls drop a total of 167 feet over three steps in quick succession, the first two falling 74 and 57 feet in almost immediate back-to-back fashion, and the third dropping an additional 36 feet about 75 linear feet downstream from the bottom of the second drop. Topographic data suggests there are likely 3 to 5 additional falls to be found further upstream on Falls Creek between this location and where it crosses beneath Forest Road 77 as well, though none nearly as big as this. The drainage basin for Falls Creek is considerably small, covering an area of just under one-half of a square mile (at most - likely a bit smaller), the majority of this basin occurring at elevations between 2000 and 3000 feet above sea level. Because of the relatively low elevation, the basin will not likely see much in the way of winter snow pack, and thus the stream will rely heavily on rain fall to sustain its flow. During the winter months it should flow well enough, but come summer the volume will likely have been reduced to a trickle at most, and by mid to late summer chances are it will entirely dry out. Though this waterfall is located only a few hundred feet away from a road, the bushwhack in to the falls is slow going and involves scrambling up steep, unstable slopes in order to obtain a clear view of the falls, and for that reason we will not be posting directions.
