About This Waterfall
Falls Lake Falls is a moderately low volume, but quite tall waterfall found along the unnamed outlet stream which originates in Falls Lake, just outside of Marblemount. Were it located anywhere else Falls Lake Falls might be a rather noteworthy waterfall, but given that right next door is the absolutely beastly Jordan Creek Falls, and that Falls Lake Falls is quite difficult to get a clear view of, it is a very seldom recognized and even less frequently visited waterfall. Based on the LIDAR-based terrain model available in Google Earth, Falls Lake Falls appears to have a total drop of about 770 feet. Our one partially successful survey to the falls was not able to obtain an accurate measurement of the entire falls due to the extremely steep terrain around the falls (which includes several substantial cliffs that impede travel further upstream), however we were able to measure the final section of the falls, which consists of a series of cascades that drop 214 feet (just about all of which was not visible due to foreshortening), followed by a scenic veiling horsetail of 161 feet in height. There are likely at least two more substantial tiers further upstream, at least one of which appears to be over 200 feet tall, but the steep terrain makes the possibility of an up-close view all but an impossibility (at least without technical climbing equipment).
