About This Waterfall
Florence Falls is located along the unnamed stream flowing from Twin Lakes, one valley north of Gunsight Lake in Glacier National Park. The falls have a cumulative drop of about 800 feet as it cascades down to the St. Mary River valley in a long series of slides and steps. The trail which leads to the base of the falls allows views of approximately the lower 440 feet of the falls, with the rest tucked out of sight above - the uppermost 250 feet or so itself falling at a 90 degree angle to the rest of the formation, such that it may not be possible to see it from anywhere but close proximity (and given that no trails climb up the falls and the area is extremely brushy, it's likely that the only way to see this part of the falls would be from the air).
