About This Waterfall

Francis Falls is a massive twisting horsetailing fall dropping over 1700 feet (likely much more) into very aptly named Headwall Canyon in the lower Toba River basin. The falls appear to consist of an upper section of twisting horsetails and slides, followed by a nearly vertical drop of somewhere between 700 and 900 feet in height, followed then by an additional set of cascades. Because of the remoteness of Headwall Canyon, access to the falls is expensive and / or very difficult. The closest road to the falls is over 5km away, which itself requires a chartered ferry to access, and no trail is known to exist to the falls, so viewing the cataract from the air is most likely the easiest method of access.
