Frenchman Falls

Description

Depart Interstate 90 at the Sillica Road Exit (second exit east of the Columbia River), head north for 3/4 of a mile to Vantage Street SW and turn left. The falls will be visible across the canyon in under a mile. Continuing another 1/2 mile to a fascinating rock formation called The Feathers is recommended.Frenchman Falls is a low-volume though fairly consistent waterfall located at the head of Frenchman Coulee just across the Columbia River from Vantage. The area is immensely popular for rock climbers and the falls provide ice climbing during the coldest months of the year. The waterfall consists of a couple small horsetails and slides as the creek skips down a notch in the cliff, then plunges about 100 feet to the talus slope below.
