About This Waterfall
Cerro Tronador is an 11,000 foot tall glacier-clad dormant volcano in the northern Patagonia region of Argentina. Dropping off one of it's eight glaciers is the Garganta del Diablo Waterfall. The falls drop into a cirque with stepped walls, including a final leap that we estimate to be roughly 700 feet in height. Originally we had thought the falls to be taller thanks to very little information being available online at the time we were first made aware of the falls, and the fact that there are literally dozens of waterfalls of similar size on Cerro Tronador - we had gotten two or three of them mixed up at one point or another. The name Garganta del Diablo means "Devil's Throat", a moniker stemming from the tight cirque containing the falls.
