About This Waterfall

Coming from Enumclaw, turn left off of Highway 410 about a mile north of the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park onto FR #7174, immediately before crossing Silver Creek (not signed, but marked by a concrete bridge railing). Passing by several cabins, turn right onto Road #7176 in about 2/3 of a mile (if you follow the Corral Pass Road, you went the wrong way). About 1/5 of a mile from Road 7174 follow a sign pointing to the Tyler-Cherbors cabin and park at the marked trailhead at the roads end (it may appear at first to be a residence, but this is public parking). The trail is marked from here and leads gradually to the falls in just under 1/2 mile.Goat Falls is a small waterfall along Goat Creek in the vicinty of the Silver Springs / Crystal Mountain area off of Highway 410. From the standpoint of a waterfall hunter, this is - to put it lightly - a stinker. The falls drop all of about 10 feet over a small ledge, flanked by a large boulder that almost blocks the falls from view. However, as a photographer, Goat Falls is very quickly growing on me as an outstanding location for streamscape photography. I suspect there may be a larger waterfall upstream from the end of the trail, but I have yet to find a safe way above Goat Falls (there appear to be herd paths on the opposite side of the canyon that may go).
