About This Waterfall
Greenwood Falls occurs along Railroad Creek just below the Lyman Lakes. The falls are not visible from the Railroad Creek Trail, but can be accessed fairly easily by bushwhacking into a meadowed bench between Crown Point Falls and Lyman Lakes. This name was applied to the falls during or prior to the 1921 Mountaineers outing to Glacier Peak. The falls were labeled by name and photographed by Asahel Holmes Denman and Frank Jones on the expedition. The name, however, long ago fell out of use and became forgotten for decades. An upper part of the cascades which sheets over smooth rock was singled out and dubbed The Silver Apron.
