Hamill Creek Falls

Hamill Creek Falls is a veiling horsetail which terminates as a vertical plunge, dropping approximately 830 feet out of a glacial basin deep in the Purcell Mountains. The falls begin by sliding down a rough dome-shaped ledge then as the stream splits into two channels, reverts to a vertical free-fall for the final half of the descent. The falls can be seen from the Earl Gray Pass Trail at a distance of over 2 1/2 km, but a close approach to the bottom of the falls would require extensive cross-country travel. Because of the long hike required to reach the falls (roughly 19km from the closest trailhead), the falls are not well regarded.
