About This Waterfall

In the town of Dunsmuir, take the Dunsmuir Avenue exit from Interstate 5 and head towards town. The parking area for the Hedge Creek Falls National Scenic Trail is found immediately adjacent to the southbound off-ramp, along Mott Road, and is signed from both directions along the Interstate. The trail leads gradually downhill to the base of the falls in about 500 feet.Hedge Creek Falls is a small but scenic waterfall found immediately outside the small town of Dunsmuir, just off of Interstate 5. The falls plunge 28 feet over a cliff of columnar basalt, framed by several large boulders and trees lining the gully below, all of which makes a rather photogenic scene when there is ample water present. Hedge Creek is a spring-fed stream, so it does usually retain some volume throughout the year, but during the summer the volume of water is greatly reduced (such was the case when we surveyed the falls in late July 2009).
