Honey Hollow Falls
Take Route 2 to Jonesville, Vermont and go across the new Winooski River bridge. Turn immediately left on River Road. In about 2 miles, you'll see Honey Hollow Road on your right. Drive up this narrow dirt road and look for a small parking area on your left on the steep portion of the road. There should be 3 large rocks here. You'll hear the falls, which are only about 100' through the woods.
To reiterate, the terrain around the falls is less hospitable to foot traffic than it used to be. There is some erosion, and most of the area slopes towards the unprotected gorge. This is a bad place to slip, so if you do doubt your ability, please stay cautious.Preston Brook drains a fairly broad valley on the north slope of Camel's Hump (height 4083') in the Winooski River Valley. A few hundred vertical feet above the confluence with the Winooski River, the waters of Preston Brook descend through a series of falls in the Underhill Schist formation. From top to bottom, the water drops over falls of 5, 3, 11, 13, 5, and 34 feet respectively. The uppermost tier slides over a rounded knob of schist into an irregular pool excised in the bedrock. A short 3' drop leads immediately into a sliding drop of 11 feet which is followed by a narrow sluicing drop of 13 feet into a small pool. The waters collect themselves and make a 5-foot leap (in our estimation, the most photogenic drop in the formation) which leads into the final 34-foot falls. The water roars into a narrow chute with a hidden pothole immediately spilling over a fan shaped sloping rock ledge.
