About This Waterfall
Horseshoe Falls was referenced by name as early as 1918 as a point of interest along the original East Side Trail which ran from Ohanapecosh Hot Springs to the White River Road, noted in several publications entitled "General Information Regarding Mount Rainier National Park" published by the National Park Service. Why it was named Horseshoe is not clear, as nothing about the falls or its surroundings resembles a horseshoe in any sense.
