About This Waterfall

Hourglass Falls was said to formerly be a small waterfall found in Stony Brook State Park, between the middle and upper falls along Stony Brook. Exactly how significant the falls were is not clear, only that it at one time resembled an hourglass in shape. The caprock which formed the falls has since collapsed and the falls no longer have any distinct identifying qualities. When we attempted to survey the falls in May 2018, it wasn't clear at all which feature along Stony Brook might have been this waterfall. There are two or three very small cascades located between the middle and upper falls, none of which exceeded 5 feet in height, and none of which were deemed significant enough to qualify for inclusion in this database.
