About This Waterfall
Hourglass Falls is the largest waterfall along the Phillips Fork of the Bechler River, and the original feature to be named Quiver Cascades. Due to mapping errors other falls along the Phillips Fork were marked with this name, so in 1978 Yellowstone ranger David Lentz named this specific waterfall Hourglass Falls for its shape, not knowing that this was the feature originally intended to bear the name Quiver Cascade. That name now collectively refers to seven other falls along the Phillips Fork.
