Idaho Falls

Idaho Falls is the feature which inspired the city of the same name in eastern Idaho. At the time the name of the city was adopted, the "falls" were no more than a series of rapids on the Snake River. When the Lower Idaho Falls Dam was built to harness part of the river into a hydroelectric plant, part of the river was allowed to spill over the dam, and eventual modifications were made to make it appear more natural. Not having seen pictures taken before the construction of the dam, we aren't sure this is even a naturally occurring waterfall, as it appears that the river channel would have bypassed the natural rock formations which currently exist as part of the falls. Either way, this is a feature of questionable significance.
