Jay Branch Gorge
Jay Branch Gorge
From the junction of VT Routes 105 and 101 in North Troy, go south on Route 101 for just 1/5 of a mile to a large dirt pullout on the east side of the road (just after crossing the Jay Branch bridge) directly across from the Four Corners Store and park. Walk into the woods behind the pullout and walk on good paths (they can be a bit muddy) about 400 feet downstream to where the falls can be seen.Jay Branch Gorge features a modest waterfall on the Jay Branch which drops about 10 feet over a protruding wall of bedrock into a good swimming hole below. There isn't much of a gorge at this location to speak of, but the rock formations are somewhat interesting. The Jay Branch drains from an area covering approximately 19 square miles upstream from the falls, and should have ample flow at any time of year.
