Jeff Falls

Description

Jeff Falls is located adjacent to VT Route 108 in Jeffersonville, approximately half of a mile south of the junction with Route 15. A pullout on the east side of the road offers parking. The rocks below the falls are accessed via an obvious path of about 100 feet in length.Jeff Falls is a rather small but scenic waterfall found along the Brewster River in the town of Jeffersonville. At the falls the river interacts with a broad shelf of bedrock pockmarked with potholes and swirly, contorted knobs that jut up from the streambed. The falls themselves drop only about 7 feet where the river splits into two channels, both plunging into deep pools perfect for swimming on a hot summer day.
The Brewster River is a moderately sized stream which drains the north side of Smugglers Notch and empties into the Lamoille River in Jeffersonville. The drainage covers an area approximately 19 square miles in size upstream from Jeff Falls, and sees ample winter snowfall. During the spring melt season the river will swell to quite considerable volumes, but by the end of summer it will be reduced in size to that of a small mountain brook – the falls are actually more interesting with lower flow however.
