About This Waterfall
Kamarang Meru represents the significant waterfall of the Kamarang River as it plunges off of the Pakaraima escarpment in an isolated southwestern corner of Guyana. Like nearby Salto Oshi, the falls were at one time thought to stand over 1,600 feet tall but subsequent data has shown the actual height to be a bit over 500 feet. The substantial volume of the Kamarang River sets this fall apart from its neighbor, allowing it to assume its position among the most powerful waterfalls in the country. Unfortunately the isolated location is difficult to access and very few people ever visit the cataract.
