Name of Waterfall

Kanim Falls

Description

Kanim Falls is the major waterfall of the North Fork Snoqualmie River, occuring as the river plunges out of its source lake and hurtles about 280 feet into a huge talus field. This is one of the more impressive waterfalls in the western Alpine Lakes region, but also one of the more difficult of the large waterfalls to access. No trails lead to the area and the brush is as thick as one would expect in an open basin. The falls are not terribly far from the road, but the trek will take most of a day to undertake. Because the basin containing Kanim Lake is very small, I suspect (but cannot confirm) that Kanim Falls will run dry late in the year as the water level of the lake drops, but during the melt season, the falls are quite powerful.
