Name of Waterfall

Kootenai Falls

Description

Because the various waterfalls along the Missouri River in Great Falls have been largely de-watered, Kootenai Falls is currently the largest waterfall in Montana by volume. The falls are made up of a series of small drops totaling 55 feet in height, with the tallest individual sections standing about 30 feet alone. The falls stretch to nearly 1,000 feet in width along its crest, making it one of the widest waterfalls in the United States. Kootenai Falls played a pivotal roll in the 1994 movie "The River Wild", where the protagonists were forced at gunpoint to raft down the falls, depicted in the movie to consist of over 200 vertical feet of cataracts (this was faked by filming the same section of falls from different angles).
