Lower Dock Butte Falls

Description

Lower Dock Butte Falls is a small but potentially scenic waterfall found along the unnamed stream which drains from the small basin and hanging meadows immediately east of the summit of Dock Butte. The falls consist of two steps, falling 35 and 13 feet back-to-back, each plunging in a true free-fall manner. In between the two tiers of the falls is a small yet striking pool which would serve as a fantastic natural Jacuzzi if it were found to be accessible (climbing up to it may be quite difficult) and if the logs stuck in the falls didn't present an obstacle.
The stream which this waterfall occurs along is not likely a seasonal entity, however since there are no ponds or lakes in its basin, and it drains from a relatively small area at an elevation which will retain snowpack into the early summer, the volume of water present in the falls will be considerably reduced in the dry season. The lower elevation of the falls makes this a good candidate for winter visitation as well.
